Falcon's Angel by Danita Minnis

Today we have one of my favorite author's Danita Minnis. She's going to tell us all about her awesome writing and Falcon's Angel.  Dear Danita, please tell us a little bit about yourself-

I’ve been reading books since I can remember. When I started writing songs, I didn’t make the connection. It was years later that I began to mull over those pretty words and imagine a story. Writing Falcon’s Angel was like bringing Falcon and Angel’s love song to life. By the time my hero Falcon arrived on the scene, I already knew Falcon-speak, his personality and how he would live.
How did you decided to enter the world of writing?
I should have known I would end up as a writer. It was definitely a natural extension of my life and what I’d done up to that point as a singer/songwriter.
What does your family think of your writing?
They are not at all surprised! All of us are book lovers, I just decided to write something that I wanted to read. J
Where do you get your ideas?
I’m a romantic and believe there is someone for everyone. That and my obsession with dark fairytales usually means that my hero will get the girl, even if it kills him. Or, their love might get them both killed, but even ghosts need a happily ever after, don’t they?
Can you tell us a little about your book?
Falcon’s Angel is a paranormal romance of a love that ended in tragedy in eighteenth century France. Modern day Italy doesn’t treat Falcon and Angel any better but this time around they have an opportunity to learn something that can put a stop to a dangerous cycle of murder and mayhem.
In Falcon’s Angel I explore what could happen between two soulmates meeting at a crucial time in their lives. Falcon and Angel need each other, just don’t know it yet. By the time they realize what they are up against and that a devil-worshipping cult wants them dead, it may be too late.
 What is your writing process?
If I wake up with an idea I like to get that down before I start the day. I have been known to prop myself up in bed before the sun rises. There is something about that in-between time of dawn or twilight that gets my creative juices working. J It could be a paragraph or a few pages to start but I will come back to it later. My unwritten rule is that once I start writing in the evening, I finish a chapter.
Wow, I do that, lol.  What was the hardest part for you when working on your  book?
Killing my darlings! I finally learned to: a) let the reader use their imagination and not give away the farm, and b) save it if it’s worth it for a later storyline or character.
Oh Danita, I need to learn to do that. It hurts to kill your babies.  What influenced or inspired you to write?
My favorite authors and their books are a big inspiration to me. As a teenager, I started collecting books by Anne Rice, Jude Deveraux, Stephen King and Dean Koontz to name a few. I still pick these books apart, admiring tone, suspense and character development.
Was there a scene that you didn’t add or you removed in your finished work?
I removed several love scenes – had an attack of those pretty words again – and had to save them for my next couple, Angel’s parents in Book 2 of the Cardiff series.
Do you have a favorite character (from you're book)? Why?
Falcon is my favorite. He is a killer but so sweet to Angel. She is his weakness.  *sigh*
Do you already know what to write next? Can you tell us?
I am editing the second novel in the Cardiff series in which Angel's parents reveal more of her unique family history. A mom with special powers, a dad who comes from an ancient Roman line of vampire hunters and an uncle who is contemplating immortality for love - are waiting to tell their stories and counting on Falcon and Angel to get this right.
The story sounds awesome, lol. I need to put your novels on my to read list.  Where can we find more information about you and your books?
Visit my website and my Facebook fan page!

Do you have any last words?
Always. J  Even happily-ever-afters have a dark side.
Danita I want to thank you for sharing with me and the readers all about Falcon's Angel. I know that it's an awesome story. I can't wait to read it. I will look forward to having you visit again when you have the next novel published. Best wishes always.

Falcon’s Angel – blurb

Angelina wants to go unrecognized when she leaves her family’s Yorkshire estate to play in a symphony in Italy. When she starts running she has no idea just how much she is running from: a stolen Stradivarius, a birthright of mysterious powers and a past that got her killed over two hundred years ago.

Falcon wants the Stradivarius in her possession, and goes undercover to track down a thief. But he is not the only killer in search of the violin.

il Dragone, a devil-worshiping cult, wants revenge for a past only they can remember.

Falcon’s Angel is a paranormal romance of love that ended in tragedy in eighteenth century France. That love is tested in a fight of good versus evil some two hundred years later. This time around Falcon and Angel have an opportunity to put a stop to the cycle of murder and mayhem, if only they can remember.

Danita Minnis, Author

If you asked Danita Minnis which is easier, writing songs or writing novels, she would say it was the former. Melodies and rhymes are second nature. What her characters want is another thing entirely. With her debut novel, Falcon’s Angel, she learned to listen to her spunky heroine and sinfully confident hero. They’re funny and in danger, and that’s just the way they want it. Lesson learned: don’t try to save them.
When she’s not writing, Danita exercises her lungs at her son’s soccer matches and their favorite theme park, because everyone knows it’s easier on the stomach to scream your way down a roller coaster.
